Elaine's Artwork
Elaine M. Grohman, has been an artist her entire life. Yet, it was the love of lettering, and the messages that words impart, that stuck her during her education at the Center for Creative Studies — The College of Art and Design. Elaine not only attended, but eventually taught at CCS.
In 1990, her work was included in an international calligraphy exhibition, entitled, US/USSR Calligraphia, sponsored by ITC (International Typeface Corporation) of New York City.
The show brought together two diverse countries, and the artists that expressed the best in calligraphic design. Of the more than 600 submissions, only seventy two pieces were selected to represent the United States. Of those seventy two, Elaine had two of her works selected to be in this prestigious show. The show traveled thorough the former Soviet Union and throughout the United States, with its final viewing at the United Nations Building in New York City, culminating in almost two years of total exhibition time.
Before becoming a full time healer and intuitive, Elaine started her own graphic design studio, Grohman's Studio in 1985, specializing in lettering, calligraphy and design. Her graphic design work has been used commercially from billboards to greeting cards to lettering in stone. Yet the unique quality of her work expresses her deep desire to communicate that which we all need — healing of the human experience, Body, Mind and Spirit. When asked about her work, Elaine would often comment, "It is my hope to make a piece of art beautiful enough to make someone want to stop to read the message, and thereby allowing the message to deeply touch their heart."
Today, Elaine does only commissioned works, and for the past twenty five years has created one of a kind, original awards, each a piece of art in themselves, which are presented each year to distinguished alumni of Wayne State University Medical School. Each recipient has done exceptional research, made a medical discovery, or in some way heightened both medical education and practice. It is interesting to note that for the past seven years Elaine has been working with Wayne State University medical students to help them understand Energy Medicine.
